Hajdučka Vrata: Crossing Čvrsnica's Natural Stone Arch

Hidden high above Blidinje Nature Park, the limestone massif of Čvrsnica guards one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's most iconic sights: Hajdučka Vrata ("Outlaw's Gate"). This cliff‑edge arch hangs at two thousand metres, framing a sheer drop into the Diva Grabovica canyon. The void beyond feels both inviting and unforgiving: Diva Grabovica canyon plunges beneath your boots, while distant ranges fade to silver on clear days. Local legend claims hajduks once crawled through the hole for bulletproof luck. Today most hikers settle for a quick photo and a silent stare into the abyss.

Retrace the same route, allowing three to four hours back to Masna Luka. Afternoon shadows can hide loose stones, so poles help on the downhill sections. There is a staffed mountain hut at Vilinac (1 965 m) for emergency shelter; otherwise the mountain offers only wind and stone.
